How to determine what size urn is needed

Urns come in all different shapes and sizes.  But its actually pretty easy to determine if an urn will meet your needs.  Urns aren't measured by their dimensions (like height, width or length).  Instead, they are measured by their volume.  The volume is measured in cubic inches.  Which is abbreviated as CI or in3.

And it easy to determine how many cubic inches you need.  You see, each pound of body weight becomes slightly less than one cubic inch of ashes.  So a 20 pound body will need a 20 cubic inch urn.  A 85 pound body - a 85 cubic inch urn.  See how easy that is.

Now this method will work over 99.9% of the time.  For an extra margin of safety, you can always go with an urn that is a little larger.  Especially if you also want to include some mementos in the urn.

Here on this site, we've got a visual indicator of the size of urns.  They look like this but with the exact volume of the urn you are looking at:

As you can see, there is a color coding for the different sizes.  And the exact volume is clearly shown.
